A few quick notes.
First off, I updated the week 2 results against the final lines. This is how the week 1 results were displayed, so I want to be consistent. The picks went from being 25-20 to 26-18-1 against-the-spread from the opening to the final lines. I’m sure there will be weeks where the opposite will happen, but I will use the final lines for the results moving forward. (Obviously, the straight-up results didn’t change.)
Secondly, the week 3 predictions have been posted. The next 4 weeks are going to be interesting, because I’m blending in 2011 and 2012 statistics as inputs to the predictions. By week 7 the predictions will be totally reliant on teams’ 2012 stats, so my expectation is that we’re going to see more & more variability over the next 3-4 weeks and then the results will start to get more consistent as we get toward the end of the season.
Lastly, if anyone has any recommendations for data sources, please send them my way. I didn’t get this week’s lines until this evening (Tuesday evening), even though they’ve been out for a day or so. I’m looking for relatively up-to-date feeds where I can programmatically import statistics and lines.
I use http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/ for my lines. It shows where they open and where they are currently. The VI Consensus column is the most accurate.
Thanks. Ideally I’d like to find something where I can download a CSV and parse it programmatically, but worse comes to worse, I can parse HTML to extract the lines.
